Featured Specimen - Calcite with Barite - Elmwood Mine, Elmwood (Central Tennessee) District, Smith County, Tennessee Calcite with Barite - Specimen measures 9 x 5.25 x 5 inches (22.5 x 13.5 x 12.8 cm). Larger 8 inch long singly terminated calcite with additional calcite approximately 6 inches tall upright on end of bigger crystal. Not in bad shape for an average sized calcite cluster from this location - upper termination is slightly nicked as is typical of many of the calcites from this location and left termination is just slightly nicked as well. Much better shape than most in this size. A few nicks or small rubs are present here and there on the balance of the specimen and a small contact area is present on the main crystal where another crystal was broken off. Specimen was formerly attached to a barite ball evidenced by the white barite remnants on the back side of the specimen (upper right picture). Weighs approximately 5.75 pounds - price is US $200.00 plus shipping. Use the secure shopping cart below to order or call Mike directly at (309) 335-6740 between 9AM and 9PM Central Time. Additional Elmwood, Tennessee mineral specimens are available here |
