Mineral Specimen - E-119
Barite, Sphalerite, Calcite on Dolostone - Cumberland Mine, Elmwood District, Smith Co., Tennessee
21 x 15 x 5 cm (8.2 x 5.9 x 2 inches) - $125.00

A nice large cabinet combination specimen from the Cumberland Mine. A large single 10cm barite is perched on a dolostone matrix that is dotted in places with small sphalerite crystals/clusters, and another smaller barite is found at bottom (or top) center, depending on how the specimen is displayed. Some small calcites are also found perched on the barite, especially on the back edge (see bottom photos). The only drawback to this specimen is the rubs on the main barite ball (evidenced by small white areas) - these could be the result of improper handling while being removed from the mine or blast rubs, or both. Even though this is a fairly large specimen these do detract some. Still, a very nice large cabinet specimen from this mine and district.
