Barite, Sphalerite on Dolostone - Cumberland Mine, Elmwood District, Smith Co., Tennessee

A dolostone plate with a few small pearly white dolomite crystals is nearly coated entirely on the front of the specimen with creamy yellow barite with some sphalerite peeking through. Additionally, a few light cloudy orange calcites are also found, especially on the sphalerite. The back side has a ribbon of sphalerites toward the top of the specimen, along with additional more isolated clusters. The specimen is virtually damage free despite its size - there are some rubs to a few sphalerites on the back side but I do not consider these significant. The hardest decision is how to display it (or could be rotated from time to time)! Collected pre-2001.
