Sphalerite, Dolomite on Dolostone - Elmwood Mine, Elmwood District, Smith Co., Tennessee

A sphalerite cluster approximately 4 x 3 cm (1.6 x 1.2 inches) is perched on the end of a dolostone matrix that has small pearly white dolomite crystals on top. There are a few very, very small rubs or contact areas to a few crystal faces at the base of the sphalerite that are not seen in the photographs above. Otherwise, the pictures really convey the lustre and color quite well.
