Mineral Specimen - E-356

Calcite  - Elmwood Mine, Elmwood District, Smith Co., Tennessee

5.7 x 2.8 x 2 cm (2.3 x 1.1 x 0.8 inches) - $10

A doubly terminated, twinned, light yellow calcite crystal with just a little bit of sphalerite or zinc ore on the base where it was removed or jarred loose from the host sphalerite base.  The terminations on either end are tipped, the right end much more so than the left end so not necessarily a competition grade calcite (not really anyway if the tips were complete because of the color), more along the lines of a good reference calcite from the district in a non cognac or orange color that is much more sought after.
