Keokuk Geode Pairs For Sale

The following specimens are all matching Keokuk geode pairs.  The pairs were opened with a soil pipe cutter or in the field into two nearly equal halves.  This section of the page is broken into two parts - the first part contains more inexpensive, usually smaller geode pairs that are below $15, while the bottom section has the larger pairs that are at or above $15.  The price listed is for BOTH halves of the matching pair - we will NOT sell just one half of a pair.  Please order by Code Name (example:  #KGS 01).

The PAIR you see is the ACTUAL pair you will receive when ordering!  No substitutions!

IMPORTANT SHIPPING NOTE:  The  symbol indicates this item is eligible for Priority mail flat rate box shipping ($8.95 shipping option in the secure Shopping Cart).  Due to the larger size, multiple pairs that are over 6 inches in diameter cannot be combined in the same box, so if you are ordering more than one pair that is greater than 6 inches in diameter please select another shipping option (max two < 6" geodes in the same box).

#KGL 01 - Quartz geode with iron coloring in host matrix - Very nice example of a Keokuk geode in situ (in host matrix).  The geode is lined with quartz that has been colored orange due to weathered iron over time.  The whole geode fits back together to form a complete match as the bottom right photo shows.  The geode itself measures approximately 3.5 to 4 inches in diameter with the matrix (left) section measuring 8 x 5.5 inches.  There is an approximate 2 inch diameter geode also in the matrix (unopened - don't know if it is hollow) at bottom left adding more interest to the piece.  Price for the matching specimen is $25.00.

#KGL 19 - Quartz geode with minor iron and calcite deposits - Saucer shaped geode with sparkly quartz and some iron coloring in the left (bottom) half.  Some minor white calcite deposits are also present in the right half.  The quartz is a very light smoky quartz in color.  Each half measures approximately 7 x 7 inches.  Price is $35.00 for the pair.  Eligible for a flat-rate Priority mail box to save considerably on postage.

#KGL 20 - Quartz geode - Clear quartz lined Keokuk geode pair with a snowball-like formation of quartz in the left half.  Very sparkly geode pair.  Each half measures approximately 5.50 x 5 inches.  Price for the pair is $15.00.

#KGL 21 - Quartz geode with iron - Very hollow matching quartz Keokuk geode pair.  The orange coloring in the right half is due to weathered pyrite and adds some color to the pair.  The average shell thickness is only about 1/3 of an inch!  Very hollow pair - each half measures approximately 8 x 5 inches.  Price for the pair is $30.00.

#KGL 22 - Quartz lined geode with minor iron and Barite with associated host matrix - Nice display Keokuk geode pair/specimen that features some of the host matrix still attached to the geode.  The skin is extremely thin on this geode - in some places only 1/4 of an inch thick (it will still ship fine).  The iron coloring in the left half adds some color, and a single barite crystal (also in the left half) is also present.  Each half of the geode measures 7 x 6 inches with the matrix adding a little more to the size.  Price for the pair is $40.00.  NOT eligible for flat rate Priority mail shipping - too big to safely pack in a flat rate box.

#KGL 23 - Quartz lined geode - Interesting but not uncommon shaped geode pair lined with sparkly clear quartz.  There were geodes immediately adjacent to this geode when it was collected causing the flatter vs. round shape to this geode.  There is a small crack in the left half that goes part way on the back side but it is still very stable and will ship and display fine.  Each half measures approximately 5.75 x 5 inches.   Price for the pair is $20.00.

#KGL 24 - Quartz lined geode with Calcite and associated host matrix - Very sparkly clear quartz lined geode with a pocket of calcites in the larger (left) half.   A scattering of pyrites is also present in this geode.  Each half measures approximately 6 x 4 inches.  There is a small section of the smaller half missing so the geode is not quite complete when put back together.  Price for the pair is $20.00.

#KGL 26 - Quartz lined geode with associated iron (orange) coloring and minor calcite - Very hollow matching quartz geode pair with some associated weathered pyrite (iron) in the left half.  The skin on this geode is only a half inch thick on average.  Each half measures approximately 8 x 5 inches.  Very small section of one half is missing (this is visible in the bottom right photo at the left).  Price for the pair is $35.00.

#KGL 27 - Quartz lined geode with iron and minor calcite deposit - Gorgeous quartz lined geode pair with some rich orange iron coloring in the right half.  Some brownish calcite deposits are also present along the lip of the left half.  Lots of sparkle to this pair.  Each half measures approximately 7 x 5.50 inches.  Price for the pair is $35.00.

#KGL 13 - Very hollow large size matching Keokuk geode pair lined with quartz, and in the bottom of the larger (right half), a rich orange color is present caused by weathered pyrite over time.  Despite the size of the geode (larger half is approximately 11 x 9 inches), the skin is at most 3/4 of an inch thick!  Some regrowth clear fine drusy quartz is also present in the bottom of the right half.  Total weight of the pair is only 19 pounds.  Price for the matching pair is $75.00.  Hammer not included.

#KGL 14 - Large very light smoky quartz lined matching Keokuk geode pair.  Each half measures approximately 9 x 8 inches with a cavity depth of up to 5 inches, allowing a deep presentation to the set.  Total geode weight is approximately 56 pounds.  Price for the matching pair is $130.00.  Hammer not included.

#KGL 15 - Large and very hollow matching quartz Keokuk geode pair.  The geode is lined with quartz throughout, with some orange iron deposits in the left half (bottom half with respect to gravity when collected).  The skin on this geode is only about 1 to 1.25 inches thick around the perimeter.  When the geode was opened, a section of the shell of one half broke off, leaving an open void on one side so the geode is not totally complete but still fits back together for about half the distance around the set.  Weighs approximately 42 pounds.  Price for the matching pair is $175.00.  Hammer not included.

#KGL 16 - Large clear quartz lined Keokuk geode pair.  Each half is approximately 14 x 11 inches, with a total geode weight of 41 pounds.  Classic matching clear quartz Keokuk geode pair.  Price for the matching pair is $150.00.  Hammer not included.

#KGL 02 - Large matching light smoky quartz Keokuk geode pair, with each half measuring approximately 12 x 7.5 inches.  The geode is a little flatter in shape but still nice and hollow, with a skin thickness of approximately 2 inches.  Total weight of the pair is approximately 43 pounds.  Price for the pair is $120.00.

#KGL 28 - Quartz lined geode pair with iron - Nice medium sized quartz lined geode pair with iron coloring focused in what would have been the bottom of the geode with respect to gravity.  A small section of one half is missing so the geode is not quite complete - the missing part is plain to see in the bottom right picture.  Each half measures approximately 9 x 5.50 inches.  Eligible for flat rate Priority mail shipping but this is all that will fit in the box.   Price for the pair is $50.00.
