Large "dewdrop diamond" quartz Keokuk geode half with a very open cavity. "Dewdrop diamond" geodes are among the most sought after Keokuk geode types as their occurrence is not widespread in the Keokuk area and the most prolific locations are on private property and access is very limited or at some locations it is no longer an option to collect. Most dewdrop geodes are between 2-4 inches in diameter but this half is 6 inches in diameter and contains the light smoky quartzoid crystals typical of the locality. A small calcite is also present in the bottom right portion of the half and is also a signature of the locality where it was collected. This half was recently released out of a Midwest geode collection and was likely collected in the 1960s to 1980s time frame from a location in Clark County, Missouri.
