Minerals from the Viburnum Trend and Tri-State Districts - Missouri
The minerals below are from the well-known mining districts in Missouri, the Viburnum Trend in the southeast part of the state, and the Tri-State district in the southwest part of the state. The Tri-State district has been closed for many years now, while the Viburnum Trend is currently still mining but on a very limited scale compared to what it had been previously a few years - decade ago. The following specimens were acquired from two separate collections. The Tri-State material had no labels whatsoever, so locations are not specified as this can be quite difficult, but the specimens were collected prior or during the early 1960s. The Viburnum Trend minerals are labeled with locations.

#M-01 - Marcasite on Galena - Tri-State District - Several marcasites are found mostly along the base and right side of the galena. The marcasite has held up quite nicely over the years. Measures 7 x 6 x 7 cm. $30.00 |
#M-19 - Galena w/ matrix - Milliken (Sweetwater) Mine, Reynolds County, Missouri - A 6 x 5.5 cm galena cube is found in association with a little bit of matrix. $40.00

#M-11 - Calcite - Tri-State District - A single partial (bottom is flat and not terminated) calcite crystal. There are a couple of very minor surface rubs in a few places, these could easily be remedied with some mineral oil if you choose. Measures 7 x 4 x 6 cm. $15.00

#M-27 - Galena - Milliken (Sweetwater) Mine, Reynolds County, Missouri - A fine 2.3 cm on edge galena cube with a few smaller galenas on the base makes up this specimen. The photos do not show the specimen very well, it is very lustrous. Typical contact to the base but the main crystal looks okay, if you want to get REALLY picky there are just a couple of miniscule rubs to a few of the edges, these can be seen barely in the photos. Nice miniature. $6.00 |
#M-29 - Calcite - Tri-State District - Simply a large cabinet calcite from this district. The crystals are anywhere from 1-4 cm each. Condition-wise the specimen is in good shape but not great shape, there is a contact area where several crystals are broken off and some matrix shows (bottom left of top and bottom pictures). This is pretty typical for large specimens though. Overall, the specimen measures 30 x 21 x 6 cm and weighs nearly 13.5 pounds. $40.00 |

#M-16 - Calcite on Dolomite w/ Pyrite, Galena - Milliken (Sweetwater) Mine, Reynolds County, Missouri - A nice large miniature/small cabinet specimen featuring no less than four minerals in this one specimen. The calcites are up to 2 cm. Only a small rub to the matrix is found, this can be seen in the top left corner of the specimen, but could be displayed to hide this. Measures 7 x 6 x 2 cm. $20.00 |
#M-28 - Galena - Milliken (Sweetwater) Mine, Reynolds County, Missouri - A "skeletal" galena (see the many faces on the front side of the cube - this is also present on the left sides but the front side is representative of the specimen as a whole) measuring 2.2 cm across is most of the specimen, there is some matrix on the base. Some contacting is present, especially on the upper left corner and on the base. This detracts a little from this miniature. $5.00
