A selection of quartz (amethyst) and calcite specimens from Brazil and Uruguay is found on this page. During the course of mining, amethyst geodes occasionally contain additional minerals with calcite being the most common. Some calcites can be rather remarkable in these geodes, especially given the large cavity size present in comparison to many other geodes. The specimens on this page were acquired directly from mines in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, or near Artigas, Uruguay. Please read the item descriptions for more details.
